A Retirement Village For Cattle Is As Great As It Sounds!

Paddocks are leveled, the cattle live together in harmony, and listen to soothing music too. 

Krsna Kirtana is one of the leading cattle caregivers in the village, and he has been taking care of cows for about 30 years. His knowledge and experience in the field has been of immense assistance in giving aging cattle the best care they can get before their death. 

“We have a nursing home, they have shelter there and they have a nice level grazing field,” he said. 

To address the medical care situation, he said “We take care of their ailments. The vet frequently visits.”

Krsna calls the retirement village a unique place. The sacred village is 405-hectare property located in the foothills of Wollumin (Mount Warning) National Park. 

“It’s probably the only farm where you’ll find father, grandfather, uncles, aunties, daughters, and sisters living on a property for their whole life,” Krsna said. 

According to him, all the cows and bulls live on the farm all their lives, and are never slaughtered for meat or taken away from the farm. However, in a very unusual case, he recently took away two cows from the farm.
