Rescued Pit Bull Performs a Rescue of Her Own

It’s been said, “What goes around comes around”. That couldn’t be truer in the case of a 4-year-old Pit Bull named McKenzie, and her owner, a 13-year-old girl. McKenzie was adopted by the family as a puppy, and quickly formed a close bond with the teen. They spend nearly all of their time together. McKenzie even has her own side of the bed.

Today

When the teen’s mom Sadie adopted the loyal and loving pit, she never expected anything but love and affection in return. However, she got so much more. McKenzie was returning from her evening walk in Lake Waukomis, Missouri when a strange man appeared in the backyard. McKenzie immediately got between the possible attacker and her beloved owner and began to growl.

Sadie said she had never heard her growl before, so it immediately alerted her something was wrong. She went into the backyard to find McKenzie standing protectively in front of her daughter. She claims that the man was muttering incoherent sentences, and was likely under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

“She was in full attack mode, as I saw when I came around the corner, and it didn’t phase him at all,” Sadie said. She went on to explain, “We never taught them to be guard dogs. She just followed her instincts, and it payed off.”

McKenzie stood guard while Sadie led her daughter into the house and called 911. The police found the man a few blocks away and placed him under arrest, but they reported he was not charged in connection with this case.

Pitbulls have an undeserved reputation for being aggressive, but the truth is the behavior McKenzie displayed is common to the breed. They are friendly and fun-loving with family and strangers alike. However, they do not need to be trained as guard dogs. They can sense when real danger is near, because they are attentive to their environment and intuitive.

In fact, pit bulls are well known for possessing excellent judgment. They will be very friendly with strangers, and even allow them to enter the owner’s property without their presence. However, when danger strikes, they are fearless protectors and won’t back down.

It’s hard to say what would’ve happened had McKenzie not been there, but Sadie is extremely grateful that she will never have to find out.

“We are grateful for her, so she got a little scratches behind the ear and she got a little extra time on the couch with Mom and Dad because Mom and Dad were very, very grateful she did her job!” Sadie said.

McKenzie is known for being affectionate, loving, friendly, and happy. Just the sort of dog that makes a wonderful family pet. Now Sadie knows that McKenzie will also do whatever it takes to protect her family. Sadie feels the four legged family member is priceless now, saying, “Rescue or not, I would’ve paid a million dollars for her that night.”

These Siberian Cats Are Essentially Tiny, Adorable Bears!

If you are anything like us, you probably love the idea of a large, fluffy cat. These are some of the most adorable animals in the entire world, aren’t they? Unfortunately, there are many of us who cannot take them home because of allergies. If our allergies allowed for it, we would keep a house full of them! Every time we have the chance to check out our dream cats, our hearts ache.

Now, this story is providing further insight on one of the cutest breeds of cat on the planet. Sergey Lebedeva and his wife Ally are here to provide a glimpse into their daily existence. We must admit that we are already quite jealous. Those who reside in and around Barnaul, Siberia get to check out these cats all of the time and who wouldn’t love them?

They look like tiny, fluffy bears. These cats are not your usual barnyard animal! Sergey and Alley have basically given their land over to these cats and for good reason. Wouldn’t you do the same if you were in their shoes? We would love to spend some time with these cats in person. We are in the process of booking a trip to Siberia right now.

All jokes aside, this is one of the most adorable initiatives that we have ever seen. Can you believe this location got started with just one cat? The story begins back in 2004. 15 years ago, there was just one of these Siberian cats at this location. From there, the animal gave birth to a litter. Once the first five ginger kitties arrived, the brood continued to grow.

Sergey and Ally were more than happy to welcome them to the premises. Now that these cats have been allowed to live in peace, they have continued to multiply. We are sure that no one is complaining, though. We wish that we had enough land to let these cats run wild and free. This is the way that animals should get to live. We envy them greatly.

Who would’t want to live on a great, big farm like this one? These cats have everything that they could ever possibly need in this location. All of their needs are met and they do not have to worry about any interlopers coming along. Sergey and Ally give them the love and protection that they deserve, while allowing them to live the life that they have always desired.

Now, there are hundreds of these cats residing here. It is like something out of one of the cutest indie films that you have ever seen. The rabbits and chickens that reside on this farm are also more than happy to have them near. The cats love protecting them and they are always on guard. The chickens and rabbits have the ultimate peace of mind.

Top flight security guards are hard to come by these days and that’s why these cats are so wonderful. They are not there to soak up all of the family’s resources. The cats are able to earn their keep. Ally and Sergey do not have to spend their time securing the premises, since these cats are holding it down on their behalf.

In the meantime, we are going to have to ask you to share this story immediately. All of the cat lovers in your life are definitely going to appreciate this one. While we cannot head to Siberia right away, we are going to keep a close eye on this location. This is one of the best farms on the planet and this is objectively true. We will not be accepting any dissent on this one at all.

This Priest’s Mass Was Designed To Help These Dogs Get Adopted!

Sarrah M

Father Joao Paulo Gomes is a priest from Brazil and he’s got a unique outlook. While there are some people out there who do not consider the plight of animals, Father Gomes is not one of them. He is happy to help animals out and we are glad to see it. In a world that is full of people who could not care less, it warms out heart to see someone who is more than willing to go above and beyond at all times.

When it comes to providing the flock with all of the love that they deserve, there are few priests who are more kind than Father Gomes. He does not care what their situation is. They do not even need to be human. Gomes treats all of God’s creatures with the same love and compassion. The stray dogs that typically run the Gravata streets now have a safe place to hear the word of the Lord.

He says that they are always going to be welcome with him. He is here to make sure that they do not have to spend any more time outside in the cold than they have to. Stray dogs do not always receive very much compassion. The homeless dogs of the world are typically left to fend for themselves. This is a sad state of affairs and Father Gomes is one of the few kind souls that is looking to change things once and for all.

The father’s mission extends well beyond giving these dogs a place to sit and worship. He also wants to make sure that they are able to triumph over their adverse circumstances. After all, every living creature deserves the chance to live comfortably. This is a principle that Father Gomes strongly believes in and he is happy to make sure that these dogs are connected with forever homes.

When dogs are not given the chance to reside in forever homes, they are left to run the streets forever. They do not have access to food, clean water or any form of shelter. This is especially problematic in a place like Brazil. Imagine how you would feel if there was no place for you to hide once the sun starts beating down. It would be tough, right?

So why should dogs have to live this way? It breaks our heart to see so many people walking past them, instead of being willing to help. All it takes is a moment of compassion to change a stray animal’s life forever. This is one of Father Gomes’ strongest held beliefs and he adheres to it strictly.

It is not uncommon to see Father Gomes interacting with the dogs as he preaches, either. He will allow them onto the pulpit with him and he even gives them scratches behind the ears. The parishioners at this church love to spend time with the dogs at this location, too. They are more than happy to take them home as well.

The strays need a good matchmaker and that’s where Father Gomes’ expertise comes into play. Let’s all do our part to raise awareness about these strays and share this story with our closest friends and loved ones. We want to live in a world where all of God’s creatures are able to find a decent place to stay.

It warms our heart to see a preacher taking time out of their sermon to make sure that these animals are given a second chance at life. If you know anyone in the area who would be willing to give these strays a proper home, please take the time to pass this story along to them!

Co-Sleeping With Your Toddler: Good Idea Or Bad Idea?

Sarrah M

Published

on

As an expectant mother, I got used to hearing the constant chorus of people telling me to enjoy sleeping while I still could. At the time, I did not realize how fortunate I was. While the nights spent with my child kicking around inside of me were not easy, they were a walk in the park when compared with what was to come. Once my daughter was born, there was no such thing as a good night’s sleep.

My peaceful nights were replaced with early morning feeds. Plus, it was hard to sleep even when she was sleeping. As any parent can tell you, it is hard to rest peacefully. You are always concerned about something going wrong. If you are anything like me, you probably wake up every hour on the hour just to look at the baby monitor. Now, my daughter is a bit older.

She is two years old and that makes things a bit easier. My daughter can tell me what is wrong with her. We can converse when times are hard. I am not nearly as paranoid as I once was. I can sleep through the night if need be. However, there is one tradition that is still alive to this day. She will wake up during the night and let me know about her bad dreams.

She also has her moments of loneliness. While there are other parents who may send their toddlers back to bed when they experience loneliness, I am not one of them. I have been told that I am nuts and I am okay with that. Co-sleeping with my toddler makes her life easier and to be quite honest, I am happier as well. Me and my husband are happy to help out.

It is easier than sending her back to her bed and letting her think that we do not care. Since I worked from home during the early stages of her life, she was not used to ever being without me for any reason. In order to make sure that she napped regularly, I would have to place her on top of my chest. From there, my heartbeat would lull her to sleep.

This is a pretty common parenting experience. When children are unable to communicate, the only thing that parents can do is offer them constant reassurance. A pre-verbal child is not going to respond to your “logical” reasons as to why they need to spend time alone. They want Mommy and Daddy and they want them now! She got used to having me as a sleep aid and what mother doesn’t like to feel needed?

She’s still in our bed during most nights now and despite the naysayers, I am A-OK with that. Me and my husband have a pretty ironclad rule on the matter that works for us. If she is still fussy before midnight, my husband will head to her room and do his best to calm her. If it is after midnight, we do not waste any time whatsoever.

Co-sleeping is not always recommended and you should probably wait until your child is at least six months old. Sheet and pillow placement is also pivotal. If you do not place the sheets and pillows properly, you may be placing your child in danger. Don’t place too many stuffed animals in the bed, either. These can pose a risk to younger babies.

It is important to remember that there is no “right” way to parent. A parent must be willing to think outside of the box and cater to their child’s specific needs. What works best for one baby may not work as well for the next!

A Helpful How To On Managing The Chaotic Realities Of Co-Parenting And Moving

Sarrah M

Published

on

Moving is a process that no one likes to go through if they can possibly help it. If you are anything like us, you like to avoid it at all costs. There is simply too much to do. Organizing all of your possessions is never easy. It is easy to become overwhelmed with the process, that is for sure. That’s why we love to rely on helpful guides that are provided by those who have been there in the past.

Take the mother in this story, for example. Angela had to take on the realities of moving while also dealing with the realities of co-parenting. Neither of these processes is fun and we cannot imagine having to grapple with both of them at the same time. It is not easy to juggle the needs of an entire family, while dealing with the logistics that are associated with a major move.

This is something that Angela knows firsthand. Co-parenting is tough to navigate as well. In order for Angela and her boyfriend to get settled in their new place, they had to move further away from his co-parent. This is not a pleasant process and no one likes it. The prospect of taking someone’s child further away from them is not something that anyone can feel good about it.

Sometimes, life takes us in unexpected directions, though. At times like these, all we can do is buckle up and hope for the absolute best. Angela’s boyfriend shares custody with his co-parent and they once had the luxury of living 15 minutes away from each other. Thanks to the move, that distance has doubled. Angela and her boyfriend have handled the process in a very amicable manner, though.

They did not want his co-parent to feel as if she was being left out of the planning. While this move was not an interstate move, there was still much that needed to be figured out before all parties involved could move forward. They talked a lot along the way, in hopes that they could avoid any sort of detrimental issues. Luckily, it did not take long for them to reach such a point.

All is well now because they took the time to keep the co-parent looped in during the process. Sometimes, it is really that simple. In some instances, families are going to live close together to make life easier on their children. But what happens when that is not possible? That is when you have to be real about things and have an honest conversation with your partner.

If there is nothing else that you take from this story, the importance of maintaining an open line of communication during these processes. A child needs to know that their parents have their best interests at heart. When they do not, they will often make decisions that do not benefit the entire collective. That’s what makes Angela and her boyfriend’s story such a special one.

They could have easily told his co-parent that she would simply have to deal with whatever decision that they made. Adults have to come together and respect each other’s lives. Moving is hard enough without upsetting your partner’s co-parent in the process. Let that be a lesson to you and yours going forward.

These parents did what was best for their little guy and now all parties are able to move forward in an amicable manner. The plans are now in motion and the move is expected to go off without a hitch. The move is going according to plan because Angela put in the necessary time and effort. There are no shortcuts in these instances. Please be sure to share her learnings!
