106 year old Armenian Woman Guarding Her Home

This photo shows an Armenian woman holding an AK 47. She is sitting outside her home guarding it. It was taken in 1990 in a conflict called the Nagorno-Karabakh War. At least 20, 000 people died during the war. This woman has lived through the Hamidian massacres of 1894-1896 when she was just 10 years old. Then when she was 30 years old, the Otooman government conducted another set of Armenian massacres. After that, Armenia was invaded by the Turks which led to Armenia becoming part of the Soviet Union. She then had to endure a bloody war with the Azerbaijanis, so she no doubt had good reason to be alarmed and carry her AK 47.
